We were delighted to see this PBS news story featuring Jamii Bora’s housing community, Kaputei, and the personal story of hope in the example of Jane Ngouri.
Sister Toni has met Jane previously, and the MPA travel team met again with her this spring during the Africa trip. Jane invited us in to her home in Kaputei, which is painted a friendly green on the inside, and showed us some of the products of her two thriving businesses. She started her first business through a loan with Jamii Bora, doing tailoring and re-making used women’s dresses into lovely girls’ frocks. Jane’s second business is beadwork. She shared with us that she is starting a third business, catering.
Jane is a staunch advocate of Jamii Bora and readily attributes her health (she is HIV positive) to the fact that she was able to acquire health insurance from Jamii Bora. This six minute video is truly a report on hope.
