MPA supporters come up with many fantastic ideas on how to raise funds for the organization, but the most creative comes from ten-year-old Claire Maher. She has written and is publishing a children’s book, with half of the royalties benefiting MPA.
The idea for Claire’s book, Puff’s Island Escape, came about earlier this year when the Incarnate Word Catholic Elementary School librarian organized a story writing project and Claire’s story was selected to be put in the school library.
As Claire and her mother, Veronica, were working to put Claire’s story into book form for the library, they decided to try to have it published.
This is not the first time that Claire and her family have donated to MPA. Last year Claire and her eight-year-old sister, Hannah, collected coins and hand-delivered them to Sr. Toni for her to take on her 2008 trip to Africa.
